Squad Training

Absolute Aquatics offers 4 squad levels to cater for swimmers of various swimming abilities. Each swimmer at Absolute Aquatics is placed in a training squad most appropriate for their skill level, attitude and commitment. Sound techniques and proper fundamentals are addressed at all levels. Depending on the squad level, training includes dry land training and gym work in addition to pool swimming. Swimmers will naturally transition to the next level as their skills develop and according to individual goals and desires.

Mini Squad

Mini Squad is for young swimmers who can already swim 25m in all four strokes to progress their skills.

There are lots of fun activities with the main focus on developing stroke-making techniques in all four strokes – freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.

Swimmers in this squad will train 2 to 4 times a week for a one hour session.

Junior Squad

The Junior Squad provides opportunities for swimmers to develop a wide variety of skills for progression to racing such as starts, turns and finishes, while maintaining correct techniques in all strokes.

Swimmers are introduced to elementary training techniques including drills and sets, using the pace clock and swimming longer distances.

Swimmers in this squad will train 2 to 5 times a week for a one hour to one and a half hour session.

State Squad

The State Squad is for swimmers who show the necessary dedication and commitment, and are achieving qualifying times for competition at Queensland state level.

Swimmers commit to attendance requirements and a year round training program.

This squad introduces swimmers to greater endurance, personal development and more advanced skills for racing while maintaining sound techniques in all strokes.

Swimmers in this squad will train 4 to 7 times a week including both morning and evening sessions.

National Squad

The National Squad is the top level for swimmers at a high performance level pursuing competition at the national and international level.

Each swimmer follows an individualised program to finely tune stroke technique and racing skills while exploring and developing individual talent.

There is continued development of character, desire, determination and confidence in each swimmer in the context of open competition at elite level.

Swimmers in this squad will train 8 or more times a week including both morning and evening sessions.
