SQUAD TRAINING

Absolute Aquatics offers 4 squad levels to cater for swimmers of various swimming abilities. Each swimmer at Absolute Aquatics is placed in a training squad most appropriate for their skill level, attitude and commitment. Sound techniques and proper fundamentals are addressed at all levels. Depending on the squad level, training includes dry land training and gym work in addition to pool swimming. Swimmers will naturally transition to the next level as their skills develop and according to individual goals and desires.

Mini Squad

Mini Squad is for young swimmers who can already swim 50 meters in all four strokes and are beginning to compete at the Brisbane regional level.

This squad provides opportunities for swimmers to develop a wide variety of skills for progression to racing, such as starts, turns and finishes, while maintaining correct technique in all strokes.

Swimmers are introduced to elementary training techniques including drills and sets, using the pace clock and swimming longer distances.

Swimmers in this squad will train 2 to 4 times a week for a one hour session.

Junior Squad

The Junior Squad is for swimmers who currently compete at the Brisbane regional level and are on the journey towards Queensland state level swimming.

Swimmers continue to refine their race skills and correct technique in all strokes through a wider variety of drills and sets, while beginning to work independently from the pace clock.

This squad also provides the opportunity to explore and develop the swimmer's main events and learn how to prepare for a race day.

Swimmers in this squad will train 2 to 5 times a week for a one and a half hour session.

State Squad

Swimmers commit to attendance requirements and a year round training program.

This squad introduces swimmers to greater endurance, personal development and more advanced skills for racing while maintaining sound techniques in all strokes.

Swimmers in this squad will train 4 to 7 times a week including both morning and evening sessions. They will also be introduced to gym sessions if swimming 6 or more times a week.

National Squad

The National Squad is the top level for swimmers at a high performance level pursuing competition at the national and international level.

Each swimmer follows an individualised program to fine tune stroke technique and racing skills while exploring and developing individual talent.

There is continued development of character, desire, determination and confidence in each swimmer in the context of open competition at elite level.

Swimmers in this squad will train 8 to 9 swim sessions and 2 gym sessions a week including both morning and evening sessions.

When our swimmers reach a competitive level, we compete and represent
